The Policymakers Seminar on ICT in Education for Central America aims at guiding participants in the review of current efforts in the region, helping them identify the elements and issues involved in the development or improvement of their National Policy for the integration of ICT in Education and a Strategic Plan towards its implementation.
The Seminar will cover the following subjects:
Understanding the potential for ICT in Education.
Identifying national initiatives in the use of ICT in Education.
Sharing regional experiences on the design and implementation of national ICT
in Education programs and/or initiatives.
Analysis of the main elements of a National Policy on ICT in Education:
financing, infrastructure, language and culture, curriculum development,
professional development, accountability and assessment.
Examination of strategies used for promoting inter-institutional collaboration,
including international, national and local public and private organizations.
By the end of the seminar, participants will increase their understanding of:
a. The ICT planning framework.
b. The ICT life cycle.
c. Applications of ICT in curriculum, instruction, learning resources, and non-instructional areas.
d. A wide variety of technical, financial, administrative, and human resource infrastructures that are necessary when implementing ICT in education
e. Professional development strategies, pitfalls and plan.
f. Financial considerations related to ICT.
g. A three-phase ICT strategic planning and implementation process, and details on how to establish a strategic planning project.
h. Strategies for planning an implementation and managing change.
